Growing

I was looking at the pictures of the goats I took over Thanksgiving and thought I would share a comparison on how much they've grown since we brought them home.  I really need to get more updated pictures, but been busy as ever.

Topaz when we brought her home (I don't have pictures from the month before when we went to the breeder, because she was a last minute decision when we picked them up).

Topaz at Thanksgiving.  It's hard to see scale in photos, but she has definitely gotten bigger.

Garnet when we picked her out.  She is a month older than the other doelings.

Garnet at Thanksgiving.  Again hard to tell how much she's grown, but trust me she has!

Pearl when we picked her out at the breeder.

Pearl shortly after bringing her home.

Pearl at Thanksgiving.  Fatty!

Jasper when we picked him out at the breeder.

Jasper a month later when we brought him home.

Jasper at Thanskgiving.  I think he changed the most hehe.

It's fun watching them grow and change.  Part of the reason I love raising goats.  :D

Impatiently Waiting

I'm impatiently awaiting baby goats from Coral. Winter always seems to last forever!  Here are some pictures of my adorable girls to help pass the time.  I hope you enjoy them.  :D

I got Coral doing her high stepping walk over brush.. too bad her head was behind a sapling.

Topaz loves her butt scratches lol.

These are blurry because Garnet would not look at me so I jumped in the air while snapping the pictures.  Hehe.
I love how confident and friendly Topaz is.  She LOVES cuddles and scratches.

Garnet has such a gorgeous face.

Coral is looking so chubby.  I love it.  She is still wild as a march hare.

The way we are keeping them from climbing in and ruining their hay bale is by putting cattle panels around it.  So far it's working great.  As they eat the hay we can pull it tighter around the bale.  One is a straight piece that we need to cut down, but the other is wrapped around it.  We will put a roof over it as soon as we can.

My headless goat (Topaz) enjoying her hay.

 Pretty Coral...

... and her pretty (fat) daughter Pearl.

The sun was starting to set and the evening light is so nice.

Even though they have hay they love chewing on saplings.

Did I mention Emi and her kittens follow us everywhere??  OrangeJello does most of the time.  It depends on how lazy he's feeling.  Above are Shadow in the hay bale and Pharaoh's gorgeous face.  Love them.

I guess it's back to waiting... *taps fingers*

Jack's First Time Climbing a Tree

In my never ending quest to keep Jack happy and stimulated, one day I let him climb in our cherry tree.  It is small and out in the yard by itself, so there was no way he could get into another tree and get away from us.  The only way he could have gotten away (not that he would want to) is to get on the ground, but he was terrified of being on the ground, so it wasn't an issue.  We only did this once because I'm too paranoid about him getting attacked by other squirrels or a hawk or the cats.

He got upset if we'd get too far away from him, so hubby stood next to the tree so I could step back to get pictures.

He wanted to jump on me so bad.

He was very insecure back then.

Chilling on hubby's shoulder.  So cute!

 Good practice for his balance.

He eventually got close to the ground, so we called it quits.

There are a couple of videos from that day that are awesome, but I don't have time to upload them right now.  Maybe later.
