Handsome Jackal

Just thought I would share some picture of Jackal from the party last Saturday.  He stayed on the back deck the whole time staring down at us hoping for a bite of a hotdog lol.

Poor Storm

Poor Storm!!!  She absolutely will not leave her hotspot alone so she's having to submit to the torture of wearing a t-shirt.  Does everyone care to share their home remedies for hotspots?  Growing up we always treated with with peroxide and something called pink lady.  I don't have any pink lady so I'm using gold bond powder to help dry it out.  I trimmed the hair back and I'm giving Benadryl for the itching.  If she doesn't leave it alone she's going to be turned into a conehead dangit lol.  It really isn't very big or bad, but it's obviously bothering her quite a bit.  I still don't know what caused it.  There's no break in the skin (no bug bite or scratch).  The skin on her tummy is a little pink (a sign of her allergies flaring up), but here ears look good (they are usually red when she has a bad allergy flare up).  It still could be allergies though.  Or a bug bite that I can't see.  Dunno.  We may never know.  I think the dog I had growing up that got them all the time was from arthritis because they were always over his hip and he'd been hit by a truck when he was younger so that hip bothered him.  Hotspots can be a sign of pain, but it's right over her ribs so I doubt it's anything like arthritis.  Anyway I'm going to continue to treat it since I have some experience with them, but if it doesn't get better I'll have the vet check it out.  I'm sure all they will do is exactly what I'm doing though.

Oh the good news is my husband finally found a job!!  It comes with benefits and 401k so I'm relieved and excited.  :D  Oh and they are working around his school schedule too.  :D

Break Time Over

This is my new favorite picture of my cat.  :D  She was not impressed with me sticking the camera in her face lol.  Anyway I'm back from my break.  Chrome's birthday party went fantastic (you can read about it here http://rdxhorses.blogspot.com/2012/05/chromes-first-ride-with-pictures-and.html).  I have to get you caught up on our garden!  I can't believe how much it has grown and we've already harvested zucchini, squash and green beans so far.  :D  Some of our zucchini are two pounds!  It's crazy.  I have pictures, but I haven't had time to edit them so I'll show them to you tomorrow.  I also have pictures of Jackal from the party that I'll have to post.  They are soooo cute!!

So anyway since everything is slowing back down again I'm going to try to get my focus back.  I have to start eating right and exercising again.  I've gained so much weight!  Someone actually asked me if I was pregnant the other day!  Ahh! 

The dogs are doing great.  Well, Storm has a hot spot.  We aren't sure what caused it.  I was thinking a bug bite because she's very allergic to them, but I don't see a bite.  I don't think it's an allergic reaction because it's such a small one and the rest of her skin isn't inflamed.  Anyway we're treating it so I'm not going to worry about it too much. 

Let's see, what else?  I guess that's it.  Anyway I'll get the photos edited asap so I can share them with you guys!  Thanks for being patient with me.  I will try to come by and get caught up on everyone's blogs as I can.  :D

Taking a break . . .

I think I'm going to take a break from this blog.  I've been so busy I just don't have time to post anything.  Heck, I don't even have time to read all of your blogs!!  If you haven't heard from me in a while on your blog I promise I will get caught up soon.  I might post random pictures, but until I get done with the stuff I need to finish before Chrome's birthday party (see his blog http://rdxhorses.blogspot.com for his first ride countdown) I won't be posting much here.  Sorry guys!
