So Sad . . .

I unfortunately had to sell all of my goats for financial reasons. They went to a great home and I get regular email updates from their new owner. I will miss them so much, but I couldn't justify hanging onto them for selfish reasons when I could no longer afford to provide the care they deserve. Aslan is also happy in the new home because he has over two acres to roam freely in a pen that he can't escape so there is no danger of him getting shot like his brother did. This was a very, very difficult decision to make, but I feel like it was for the best.

Sad News

Wow, I had hoped to post earlier but I had to work all day. Sigh.

Yesterday I got the horrible news that someone shot my mom and dad's dog, Rip, twice with a rifle. :( I am so upset! My parents are devastated. Also, because Rip (Aslan's brother) got out of his pen and was on the neighbor's yard, it technically wasn't illegal, so we can't do anything about it. And this after the same neighbor's dogs tore Rip's ear off and my dad had to spend almost a thousand dollars to get him put back together. :( He never spoke to my neighbor about it because he's an elderly man and has cancer. Now he's not sure if he should try to get some sort of compensation or just leave it alone. If Rip were still alive he wouldn't even worry about it, but since he's dead now . . . I don't know. I'm just so upset and confused over the whole thing. Why did Rip have to find a way out of his pen on that day??

Aside from that one of my coworkers basically stole some of my hours so I had yesterday off (I'm making up my hours elsewhere . . . well almost all of them). I spent most of the day in my feed shed, stacking pallets, removing old hay, burning empty feed bags (been too dry to do it), cleaning up and putting together a tall cabinet so I could store my brushes, buckets, halters, etc up off the ground. It looks so nice in there. I worked for four or five hours straight to keep my mind off of Rip. Now my arms are so sore from hammering and lifting stuff. :)

Well, I'm going to go read my book and forget about everything. Later.

Aslan's Outing

Here are the pictures of Aslan's recent outing onto the lease land. A day late, but that's okay. They didn't turn out very well because of the lighting, but that's becoming a common trend in my pictures. Another reason to dislike winter lol. I don't know about anyone else but the time change has me all messed up.

I hate when I miss a good shot become I'm zoomed in lol.

Blurry and light coming from the wrong direction.
Also cut his tail out, but look at that expression!

Lighting is still bad and the stride is weird but at least he's in the frame.

Got this one in mid shake. Too cute!!!

I love his curly little tail. :)

Doesn't he look like a big teddy bear?

And sniffing around.

Sorry the pictures aren't that great. The dogs are not as easy to photograph lol.

Great Morning . . . Heck I'll Say Great Day!

The reason I had a great morning is because I went out onto the lease land to let Aslan run around and we had fun! Chrome got in on the action too. The neighbor's guineas were out so he was feeling spunky. He had his nose in the air and his tail flagged and flipped over like an Arab. Unfortunately something was funky about the lighting and the pictures didn't turn out as great as I would have liked. Some turned out great and some just suck, but I couldn't delete them because frankly the subject matter rocks!! ;D

The reason I decided to say it was a great day is because basically nothing bad happened today!!! It happens so rarely that I thought it worth mentioning. :) I've written another 5182 words today in my NaNo novel. I'll probably write more tonight, but I didn't want to post this really late so you'll just have to check out my NaNo profile or check out my widget in the sidebar to keep track of my word count.

Anyway here are the pictures from this morning. Enjoy!

This picture really freaks me out! Where are his eyes??

I love how when he trots or canters straight to me he stops at perfect
arm's length and puts his muzzle in my hand. Cute!

His little Arabian trot. :) Those guineas had him acting out.

He found a piece of his destroyed tarp to play with.

Love his little lip when he's playing with his tarp.

Why on earth does he chew on rocks? He has free choice loose minerals . . .

Look at his crappy mane!! Why oh why must he tear it out?
On a happier note check out the gray/white coming in. :)
On the other end . . . I mean hand, his tail looks great. It's so thick and wavy.
Again check out the gray coming in.
I'm so happy they have so much land to play around on now. :)

I was "pawing" at the water with my foot. He's still not sure about the pond.

I LOVE this picture!!

Chrome loves my husband's beard for some reason.

Aslan was having a blast. This is one of the best trotting pictures I've ever gotten of him.

My husband giving Chrome a talking to for nipping.
He didn't hurt him. He's just talking to him.

Making friends again.

I like this picture but wish my neighbor's house hadn't been in the background.

Chasing Aslan. I actually like how this one turned out even though the lighting is weird.
Check out the stark white in his tail.

Another cool chasing picture.

I wish the lighting had been better in this one but I had it zoomed all the way in.
He was watching the guineas here. I'm just amazed by the gray in his tail.
I guess I just wasn't expecting him to go gray so fast.

One of my favorites of Aslan. Too cute!

This one kind of helps show how tall Aslan is.
My husband is 5'9" and Chrome is 14.3hh.
Chrome wasn't being ugly in this picture.
He was trying to steal the bottle out of my husband's hand. :)

I LOVE this picture! He was chasing Zeppelin (naughty colt) and looks like a stallion herding his mares. :) I can't wait to get him gelded but it is kind of cool observing the stallion like behaviors. Someone told me that when I get him gelded he won't be so bad about chasing dogs and the donkey.

I love this one too. It's one of my favorites. He was chasing the dog, but it looks like he's doing a canter pirouette! Look at the reach of his rear legs and how round his back is. :) Maybe he will be a good dressage horse.

Zeppelin just wants everyone to leave him alone.

The Rest of the Dog Playing Pictures

Okay here are the rest of the pictures from last week. This was after we came back into the yard from the lease land. I put Jackal up because he wasn't listening, then I let Storm and Aslan play some more.

Aslan loves following Storm.

He's like the pesky little brother who won't leave you alone.

My little curly Q tails. Look at the height difference! Storm is 23 inches tall!

Aslan checking out the cat.

This is the expression I get sometimes when I tell her highness to do something. :)

A little playing. They're sizing each other up. :)

Then Storm hears something . . .

Mmm smells good.

What's in there?!

I oblige and open the door.

Turkeys!!!

See them looking up at their perches for an escape route? Poor birds. Time for Storm to go.

Wandering around because they're wore out.

Aslan giving me the stink eye.

More following.

Aslan giving Storm a sniff.

More play!

Aslan apparently has a second burst of energy.

Storm isn't impressed.

Look at Aslan's ears! Cute!

I think she's getting tired of being followed. Look at that expression!

I like how this one turned out.

Then I decided to get a picture of them sitting next to each other.

It didn't go so well. They didn't want to cooperate.

This is the best I ended up with. Sassy Stormy.

Now she's happy because he left lol.

Showing off her other side. Sorry hon it's just as evil as the other side. :)

Aslan went back to pestering.

She sort of took the bait.

Don't these look like two happy dogs??
