Chrome In Danger

Chrome and Zep busted through the door to our feed barn, pulled over my 55 gallon drum feed barrel, dragged out a bag of feed and ate approximately 15 pounds of Safechoice between the two of them. This happened at 5:30pm this evening. They are both drinking, eating and pooping so I'm not worried about colic at this point, but I am terrified about founder. So far Chrome doesn't have any heat in his hooves. I can't get close enough to Zep to check his but he isn't walking weird or showing any signs. They are still in danger for the next 72 hours so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. I know they are just animals, but if anyone will understand I know it's you guys. I can't lose my boys. I'll keep you updated.

  1. Oh no! I'm so sorry! I can't believe it. I really, really hope they don't get sick. I love animals so much and I know how you feel. Actually a life-or-death situation happened with my dog, Pugsly, today.
It was EXTREMELY hot today. My mom and I were in the car about to go to the store (my dad is out to sea and my brother is with my grandma). Just as we were about to pull out of the driveway we saw Pugsly staring at us kindly through the gate! We were terrified. We took him out of the gate and put him inside as soon as we could.
He could of died of the heat! How terrible. Our love and joy could have been dead.

I really hope your horses stay good. I don't believe in god but if I did I would pray for your horses. I'll keep them in my thoughts.

I'll make sure Mom keeps you guys in her prayers tonight, and I'll send a bit of 'luck' your way as well.

  4. There is no such thing as "just animals." They are your friends and a big part of your life. I sure hope they are okay.

I did have a horse that had laminitis that we got under control, and he escaped about 6 months later and ate everything he could find. He didn't have a recurrence, and he really should have.

There is hope. I will say a prayer for them.
