A to Z - G is for Guns

Today's A to Z letter is G and for my topic I chose guns.  My husband and I have both always loved guns, but we've had very different backgrounds with them.  I grew up learning to shoot .22s just on targets.  I have only once ever killed anything with a gun and it was an opossum that was right outside the back door of my house hissing and growling at my dog (and not letting him inside).  I have very good aim at short distances, even the day I killed the opossum when it was dark and I stuck my left arm out of the door (I am not left handed!) to shoot it.  I was actually amazed I hit him.  However my favorite thing ever is to go to the gun range and just shoot at targets.  Or out in my pasture shooting pine cones or cans with my pellet gun.  :)  My husband is the one who introduced me to pistols and I LOVE them!  I've never liked shotguns or rifles because of the kick, which is why I only shot .22s and pellet guns as a kid.  As for pistols, my favorite is actually the .40 cal.  A .45 is too heavy and a 9mm is too light.

My husband grew up hunting with .22s, shotguns and rifles.  Then he got into security work where he got to shoot really cool guns like an M2 .50 Cal. that you would have to have a special license to own.  While working security he also was involved in competitive shooting.  I've been to a few competitions and it's actually really cool (but LOUD!).  Now he just goes to the gun range with me to shoot at targets.  Here are pictures of our guns.  The lighting in the house sucks and I was using flash, so the pictures are kind of weird.

I think that's all of them.  I might have missed some since we moved LOL!  Like I said we love guns.  Also here is a picture of Jackal watching us photograph our guns.

It's not a very good picture, but Jackal is NOT one of those dogs that is scared of guns.  When he sees a gun he gets all excited because he thinks we're going after coons or possums hehe.  The boy is a true hound dog!  That's all for today.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's G posts!
